Afghan and coalition forces killed 30 Taliban fighters and arrested 12, including three of their local commanders, in an operation in the southern province of Kandahar Wednesday night, police said Thursday. "National intelligence agents and coalition forces carried out an operation in Zherai district last night based on information that we have regarding the presence of Taliban in Mullahkhail village," provincial police chief General Sayed Agha Saqib told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa. "In this operation 30 Taliban were killed and 12 of them including three of their commanders were arrested," Saqib said, adding that five of the detained Taliban militants had been wounded during the operation. He said since the fight was initiated by the combined forces, there were no casualties on their side.
