Saudi Minister of Culture and Information Iyad Madani and Algerian Minister of Culture Dr Khalida Toumi inaugurated here yesterday evening the activities of the Saudi Cultural Days in Algeria in the presence of a number of Arab Culture Ministers. Madani and his accompanying delegation toured the shows organized on the occasion including the show of the Two Holy Mosques; the show of trees and dates and the show on books, formative arts, photography and sculpture. Speaking on the occasion, the Algerian Culture Minister welcomed the events of the Saudi Cultural Days, which coincided with the extraordinary meeting of the Arab Culture ministers. She noted that the festivities and activities of the Saudi Cultural Days remind the people with the glories of the Islamic civilization. Reiterating the fraternity and love of the Algerians for their Saudi brethren, she said the Algerians do appreciate the role of the Kingdom under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz in the service of the Arab and Muslim causes at the international forums. On his part, Iyad Madani highlighted the existing deep-rooted relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Algeria, and said the two countries are linked with the bonds of religion, culture and language. He recalled the support extended by the Kingdom to the Algerian revolution, and said the Saudi people had voiced sympathy with the sufferings of the Algerian people and saluted the victory they attained. Madani pointed out that the Kingdom, notably Madinah was a fertile environment for the meeting of the Algerian and Madinah Muslim scholars. The events of the Saudi Cultural Days emphasize the great values adopted by consecutive generations in the Kingdom and Algeria for building an Arab culture which we are proud of it, he said adding that our Arab culture is open to other civilizations and it is keen on emphasizing the values of righteousness, nobility and beauty.
