Hong Kong stocks fell a further 2.3 per cent Thursday as US financial woes continued to weigh heavy on Asian markets, according to dpa. The Hang Seng Index lost 613.27 points to close at 26,004.92 points, nearly 6,000 points below its peak of just below 32,000 points on October 30. Turnover was 123 billion Hong Kong dollars. Thursday's losses follow a 4.15 per cent plunge in Hong Kong share prices Wednesday driven by declines on Wall Street, rising oil prices and a weakening greenback. The Hong Kong dollar is pegged to the US dollar, making it particularly vulnerable to events in the US.
