The Saudi Railways Organization said that at 10:14 pm on Friday 28/10/1428 H., the goods train number 120 heading east from Riyadh to Dammam collided with 35 cement-loaded carriages which were stopped on the railway near the cement factory located at kilo 543. The accident happened during the journey of the train consisting of the tow train number 3501 and 57 cargo carriages loaded with empty containers at kilo 544-545. The accident caused some damage to the tow train and light fractures to the driver of the train. The driver was taken to a hospital in Riyadh and his health condition is stable. It also caused the closure of the goods and passengers railways and cancellation of a number of train journeys for Saturday. The organization said it is investigating the causes of the accident and working to reopen the railway.
