The second of the successfully separated Slovak conjoined twins died on Friday, a Slovak news website reported Saturday, according to dpa. "Colleagues called me that he passed away at around 17:45," TNky.sk cited Vladimir Cingel, the head surgeon at the Bratislava hospital where the boys were separated as saying. The tiny Michal Mueller, whose extremely short small intestine marred prospects for his long-term survival, died 36 days after his brother Marek, who had succumbed to a serious infection on October 4. On September 15, Slovak surgeons separated the then five-month-old boys who were conjoined at the lower chest and stomach in a 20-hour life-saving operation.
