The Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr. Hashim bin Abdullah Yamani asserted that the Cabinet's decision, issued at its meeting yesterday approving the Ministry's participation in the membership of the Bureau of International Exhibitions (BIE) as of the next fiscal year 1428 H./1429H., comes in the framework of the Kingdom's keenness to take advantage of abroad exhibitions. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Dr Yamani said that the most important objectives of BIE is to find ways to promote cooperation between the world's peoples in order to develop greater understanding between nations. He pointed out that the number of Member States in this Bureau is 111 and the Kingdom will become No. 112. "The Kingdom had participated in a distinguished pavilion at Aceh Exhibition in Japan 2005 which was organized under the auspices of BIE. The total number of the Exhibition's visitors reached 22 million where the Kingdom's pavilion visitors reached 2.5 million," he said.
