Floods triggered by heavy rains have killed at least 24 people in central Vietnam, officials said Monday, as the region braced for more destruction from a tropical storm expected to make landfall later this week. The latest floods, the third to hit the area in three weeks, began Friday, killing people in seven coastal provinces, including seven in Phu Yen province. Officials feared even more damage would be unleashed by tropical storm Peipah, which was expected to reach Vietnam on Friday, the Associated Press reported.
