Indonesia`s Bengkulu province was again hit by an aftershock measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale on Wednesday at 10:54:43 p.m. local time, ANTARA reported. Coordinator of Bengkulu`s Meteorology and Geophysics Agency Adjat Sudrajat said the epicentre of the tectonic earthquake was located 47 kilometers southeast of Muko Muko district, Bengkulu province in the depth of 20 kilometers. Following the 7,9 magnitude earthquake occurring on September 12, 2007, aftershocks continued to hit Bengkulu. The September 12 quake in Bengkulu killed 15 people, injured no less than 50 others, damaged thousands of houses, office buildings and public facilities. On June 4, 2000, Bengkulu was also rocked by an earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale killing 94 people, injuring thousands of others, devastating a great number of buildings and public facilities and causing material losses of about Rp400 billion.
