At least four people died in Algeria when heavy rains caused streams to flood their banks and buildings to collapse in the west and centre of the country, the Civil Defence Agency said Tuesday, according to AP. Two of the victims were found near M'sila, some 250 kilometres south of the capital Algiers, where the rains caused two wadis, or river courses, to flood. An elderly man died in the region of Laghouat, some 400 kilometres south of Algiers, when the roof of his barn collapsed under the weight of the water. The fourth victim was swept away by floodwaters early Tuesday at Medea, 90 kilometres west of the capital.
