The Kingdom's nominee to the membership of UNESCO's executive council, Dr Saeed bin Mohammed Al-Mileis, the deputy education minister for boys education, has become a member of the UNESCO's executive council for a period of four years. The executive council comprises 58 members who are selected among the representatives of UNESCO's 193 member states. This development comes in recognition of the Kingdom's pioneering role at UNESCO. Dr al-Mileis, obtained a doctorate degree from Indiana university, US, in 1400 on methods of teaching English language at the secondary schools. From 1414 to 1418 he worked a member of the Shoura (consultative) council and as a director general of the Arab Bureau for Education in the Gulf States (ABEGS) from 1419 to 1426. In 1426 he was appointed as deputy education minister for boys education. Dr al-Mileis had led the Saudi delegation to meetings of a number of Arab and international organizations concerned with education.
