The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reiterated the importance of enhancing the role of UNESCO's international governmental committee for ocean sciences. The Kingdom also called for giving more attention to the issue of climate change. The remarks of the Kingdom were made in the speech delivered by Deputy Minister of Education for Boys and member of the executive council of UNESCO, Dr. Saeed Al-Mileis, here Wednesday. Dr. Al-Mileis lauded the efforts of UNESCO in helping the Iraqi people as regards improving education and technical training as well as its role in implementing decisions pertaining to educational and cultural institutions in the occupied Arab territories and its role in the reconstruction of Lebanon. Al-Mileis called for adopting the recommendation of the Secretaries General of the National Committees of the Arab Countries, held in Kuwait, as regards benefiting from the recommendations of the international dialogue conference held earlier this year in Madrid at the initiative of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The recommendations rejected the idea of civilian conflict and called for spreading the culture of tolerance, understanding and mutual respect. They also called for issuing an international document that stipulates respect of religion and conducting dialogue among the nations of the world. Dr. Al-Mileis pointed out that the Kingdom has contributed to the annual budget of the Higher Commission for Human Rights, which stands as a witness to its support for just causes of mankind throughout history, he said.
