Hariri a state of instability and whether we will see greater impetus to the Kingdom's efforts to unite ranks or whether regional and international interventions are stronger than efforts of reconciliation, the Crown Prince said, "The Kingdom stood and is still standing by Lebanon since its independence in all circumstances, the stance of brotherhood, love and friendship. The Saudi support for Lebanon has been constant at all times. The Saudi support to Lebanon during the civil war that stormed it has been clear to brothers there. The Saudi efforts, in quest to stop the shedding of Lebanese blood, were culminated in the outcome of Taif meeting which has become a pivotal and political reference for all Lebanese people. But we fear that some of the events witnessed by Lebanon currently represent dangerous turning points threatening its security and stability. We in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stand at the same distance from all Lebanese parties. We don not interfere in internal Lebanese affairs, but we perform our duty towards the brothers there by following up efforts by urging all parties to resolve their differences, especially with the coming of the presidential election date. We wish that all Lebanese give priority to national interest and put it above all. With regard to his viewpoint on resolving the crisis of Iran's nuclear file, the Crown Prince added, "Saudi Arabia always stressed the importance that the whole Middle East region including the Gulf region should be free from nuclear weapons. Emanating from this position, we call on all Middle East countries to fully and strictly respect existing international pacts and covenants which impose certain controls on all nuclear programs. We hope that the International efforts seeking to achieve a quick and peaceful end to the Iranian nuclear file will be successful in sparing the region futile arms races and serious environmental risks . We always wish that conflicts be resolved peacefully.'' --More
