Arab nation holds a key place, says Prince Sultan
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 08 - 06 - 2008

Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation, and Inspector General said, Saturady, the Arab nation today holds a key place in the world due to its principles, values and resources.
Addressing the Arab ambassadors to Spain, here, he said Arab nation's ambassadors have big responsibilities as they represent all the Arab nation at the best, he said. “You represent your countries at the best, you are the front of the nation and you stand hand in hand clearing the confusion that appears over our nation abroad.”
“The Arabs today, thank God, do not need many things, thank to the resources that Allah has bestowed upon them. That make them give rather than take”.
Resources such as oil and agricultural areas are possessed by the Arab nation. But what we need is the technology, modern science and development. We should give as much as we take, benefiting scientifically and technologically from advanced nations to serve the Arab interests, he said.
The Crown Prince said the present world reality demands the unification of Arab ranks. “I always feel grateful to our ambassadors abroad as they constitute the Arab nation, and the Arab unity. Our cause is one and there is no case for a brother against his brother.”
I find the ambassadors who represent the Arab countries serve their nation more than any one, elsewhere.
Regarding Palestinian issue, the Crown Prince said “We want the establishment of a Palestinian state that is completely organized, having complete duties and rights, and full sovereignty and borders”.
Crown Prince also lauded the role of Spain in the international arena, saying that Spain feels the Arab nation's issues more than any other country.
Lebanese peace deal hailed
He said the Kingdom has always been stressing that the Lebanese institutions should restore life for the country's well-being and stability, and he hopes that the Doha agreement and the election of Michel Ssleiman as president of Lebanon will serve a starting point for a bright and prosperous future for the country.
Prince Sultan also called for the unification of the ranks of all the Lebanese sects and political spectrums in the service of their country through constitutional institutions.
“What also makes me feel comfortable is that the solution of the Lebanese crisis came within Arab framework as was the case of the Taif agreement which had been of an Arab entity. This agreement had consolidated the constitutional structure of Lebanon and its institutions. Thus, the Doha agreement has has been an Arab initiative, consolidating the trend of dialogue and reconciliation and rejecting logic of force and confrontation.”
“Needless to say, this stands as conclusive evidence of the strength of the sincere Arab will and ability to solve Arab crises,” he said.
Prince Sultan said “Iraq is an inseparable part of the Arab Ummah. It is a country of ancient civilization and history. We wish to its people all love and appreciation and share in their pains, hopes and aspiration for the flourishing and stability of Iraq.”
He added the Kingdom has been standing with Iraq from the first day of the crisis, pointing that its movement was not limited to supporting the regional and international efforts aimed at enabling Iraq to restore its stability but it also hosted in Makkah the Iraqi scholars and Muslims with all their factions and doctrines to consolidate the dialogue principle among them to avert sedition.
“The Arab League also deserves special mention for its initiative seen in convening the firstever conference for national consensus,” Prince Sultan said.
He added that the Kingdom is making efforts under the Arab umbrella or at the regional and international levels until the brotherly Iraq enjoys stability and peace which it deserves.
Prince Sultan said military exercises which have been carried out by the Armed Forces in the northwest area came within a normal schedule of the Ministry of Defense, pointing that this reflects the keenness of the Saudi leadership on the preparedness of the Armed Forces and achieving harmony among its different segments. In line with this goal he said the National Guards and Frontier Guards had participated in these exercises which the Saudi Armed Forces conduct from time to time.
