The Custodian of the two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz will lay tomorrow the foundation stone for King Abdullah University for Sciences and Technology at Thole center, 70 kilometer North of Jeddah. Minister of petroleum and mineral resources Eng. Ali al-Naimi said in a statement to SPA that the university will be an international research university at the level of higher studies. The university, which will work as an independent institution, will apply the best methods used by the pioneering research universities in the world, and will positively contribute to enabling the researchers in the Kingdom and the Arab and Muslim world to work jointly for solving the complicated scientific and technological problems, he added. Al-Naimi pointed out the university will open its doors effective from September 2009.
