Authorities Tuesday lifted curfew in Mir Ali area of Pakistan's tribal areas after ten days as relative calm prevailed, officials said. All roads of troubled area of North Waziristan were re-opened. Relaxation has been given to facilitate people, Pakistan Army spokesman Maj-Gen Waheed Arshad said. Shops in Mir Ali have opened and local people, who left the area, have started coming back. Officials said tribal elders are busy chalking strategy to travel Waziristan for talks. The governor of the North West Frontier Province (NWFP), bordering Afghanistan, Lt Gen (retd) Ali Mohammad Jan Aurakzai said peace will soon return to restive Waziristan and enough progress has already been made in this regard. "We are sure that our peace efforts will soon bear fruit and we have achieved some progress as well , he told the reporters. However, the governor refused to disclose the progress and said the peace will be restored through dialogue. Four check posts set up by security forces are being vacated in the wake of successful negotiations with the local people.
