Tornadoes tore through southern Bangladesh, killing at least three people, injuring about 85 others and leaving several thousand homeless, a domestic news agency reported Tuesday. The twisters swept through about 30 villages late Monday along the coast in the districts of Bhola and Bagherhat while most villagers were asleep, United News of Bangladesh reported. At least 3,000 people were left homeless as the tornadoes flattened several hundred mostly mud-and straw huts, the report said, quoting unnamed government and rescue officials. Many trees were uprooted.
