One person was killed in a strong explosion at 5 pm in Proppo village in the subdistrict of Raas Islets, Sumenep, Madura, East Java on Saturday, ANTARA reported. Adjunct Commissioner Mualimin on behalf of Sumenep Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Darmawan said two other people were seriously hurt in the explosion that occurred at the house of Syafi`i (25), the dead victim. "The blast is suspected to have been caused by firecracker materials," he said. Police officers who came to the scene only found rolls of paper that had been part of the materials used for making firecrackers. "We do not yet know the real situation at the scene so we cannot as yet tell the chronology of the event," he said.
