Ivo was downgraded from a tropical storm to a depression early Sunday as it moved toward the resort cities of Los Cabos on Mexico's Baja California coast, AP reported. The center of Ivo was about 95 miles (150 kilometers) southwest of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California peninsula and was moving east-northeast at 4 mph (7 kph), the U.S. National Hurricane Center reported. The depression's projected track would take it over land or just offshore late Sunday near the resort cities of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, a region that was hit early this month by Hurricane Henriette. Ivo had maximum sustained winds of around 30 mph (48 kph) and could bring rainfall of 1 to 2 inches (2½ to 5 centimeters), forecasters said. It could weaken to a remnant low-pressure system as it approaches land and is expected to dissipate completely over the waters of the Gulf of California by Tuesday.
