A Russian military aircraft violated Finland's airspace off the southern coast on Friday morning, the government said, according to AP. The Ilyushin-76 transporter plane flew about 4.5 kilometers (3 miles) into Finnish airspace for three minutes, the Defense Ministry said, prompting an investigation by the Frontier Guard. Similar violations were observed in August 2005 and April last year, the ministry said. Last year, Russia apologized for violations of Finnish airspace, following about a dozen such incidents over a period of two years. Similar complaints of air violations have been made by Finland's southern neighbors, Estonia and the other Baltic states.
