At least 45 Taliban militants were killed after they attacked a patrol made up of US-led coalition and Afghan forces in southern Afghanistan, a coalition statement said Thursday, according to DPA. Afghan soldiers called in a successful coalition airstrike after the militants attacked the patrol Wednesday with rocket-propelled grenades and small-arms fire in the Deh Rawood district of Uruzgan province and as they were receiving reinforcements, a coalition statement said. It was difficult to verify the death toll independently. Taliban militants had not commented on the incidents.
