Poland's parliament voted to cut its term short Friday, triggering a snap election two years ahead of schedule _ a vote the government had sought in order to put an end to persistent political turbulence, according to The Associated Press. The 460-seat lower house backed the move by a 377-54 margin, well above the two-thirds majority it needed. The constitution requires that an election be held by Oct. 21, which is also Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski's preferred date for the election.
