Pakistan and Iran enjoy close neighbourly relations and playing a significant role in the region for peace and stability, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said. He was talking to an Iranian media delegation headed by Ali Reza Malakian, Deputy Minister of Press and Information Affairs, in Islamabad on Friday, according to an official statement. The prime minister said both countries desire to expand trade and economic links in order to ensure prosperity for their people. Aziz said the two countries enjoy close brotherly relations based on shared faith, culture, values and common heritage and hoped that these relations would further grow in future. He said that there is ample scope to enhance cooperation in various sectors. He said Pakistan is already buying electricity from Iran and desires to buy more in future. Progress on Pakistan-Iran-India gas pipeline is also moving in a positive direction, he added.
