Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Secretary General of the Higher Commission for Tourism, opened in Paris today Madaen Salih exhibition, organized by the Saudi Arabian Higher Commission for Tourism in coordination with the Saudi mission to the UNESCO. UNESCO's Director General Koichiro Matsuura and Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to UNESCO Dr. Ziad bin Abdullah Al-Darees also were senior guests of the event held in the title "Stone Antiquities in Madaen Salih". Addressing the opening ceremony, Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz said this exhibition introduces Madaen Salih, one of the world's most admirable antiquities, to the world public in a move designed to attract more tourists to visit Madaen Salih and other important touristy sites in the Kingdom. Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz disclosed that Saudi Arabia has presented Madaen Salih and two other historical sites, namely: Al-Tareef district in Al-Dareya town and Jeddah downtown to UNESCO in a bid to insert them in the UNESCO accredited world heritage list. Rich of oil, Saudi Arabia is also rich of historical, touristy and civilization sites which the Higher Commission for Tourism vows to introduce to the world community who just look to the Kingdom as home of the Muslims holy places and the world's vast oil reserves and supplies, he concluded. --More
