The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud received at his palace here today the committee member of Arab Gulf Programme for United Nations Development Organization (AGFUND)'s International Prize for Developmental Projects, Laureate of Nobel Peace Prize 2006 and founder of Grameen Foundation Professor Muhammad Yunus. At the end of the reception, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz decorated Prof. Yunus with King Abdulaziz sash class II in recognition of the practical contribution to confronting sustainable human development problems through his creation of the micro-credit mechanism to combat poverty and curb its negative impacts on communities. On his part, Prof. Yunus expressed thanks to and appreciation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for receiving and awarding him this prestigious medal, emphasizing that this royal recognition would be a strong incentive for him to continue this approach. The event was attended by PrinceTurki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, and the Saudi Ambassador to the United States Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir.
