The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet's weekly session at Alsalam Palace in Jeddah on Monday. At the outset of the meeting, the King briefed the cabinet on the talks, meetings and consultations which he held over the previous days with a number of heads of states and their envoys. The Monarch commended the visit paid to the Kingdom by Jordan's King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein and its outcomes in enhancing relations of fraternity and cooperation between the two countries. The King pointed out that the Kingdom has been seeking to serve the Muslim nation and to unify the ranks of the Arab world for the achievement of its stability and prosperity. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session, the Minister of Culture and Information Iyad bin Amin Madani said that in this regard, the cabinet stressed that the Kingdom has been following up in great concern the developments of events in the region. The Kingdom hoped that Iraq will achieve its national unity having the elements of self-continuation at the political arena. The cabinet welcomed the success of the Lebanese army in wiping out a center of violence, extremism and terrorism, emphasizing the importance of the independence of Lebanon's decision, institutions and protection from any foreign intervention. As regards the Palestinian issue, the cabinet warned of the policies aiming to exploit the division at the Palestinian arena to usurp more rights from the Palestinian people. The cabinet affirmed that the only way for peace is the regaining the rights of the Palestinian people and the only solution to the Palestinians is to unify, to overcome their differences and to unite. --More
