Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, chaired the cabinet's weekly session at Al-Yamamah palace in Riyadh on Monday. At the outset of the session, the Crown Prince briefed the Cabinet on the talks held with Kuwait's Premier Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah during his visit to the Kingdom which dealt with the situations and developments at the Gulf arena. In this regard, the Cabinet stressed the outcome of the 7th consultative meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council held recently in Riyadh which stated that the GCC's ability to confront challenges depends on the united position of the Council. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session, Iyad bin Amin Madani, the Minister of Culture and Information, said that the Crown Prince informed the Cabinet of the contents of talks, messages, and contacts held over the previous days on the developments of events in the region and the world, particularly at the Palestinian and Iraqi arenas. The Cabinet renewed its call on the world community to make the Middle East free of all mass destruction weapons including the Gulf area, to pressurize Israel to accede to the Nuclear Weapons Non-proliferation Treaty, to subject its nuclear facilities to the international inspection system of the International Atomic Energy Agency and to consider these as preconditions for any security arrangements in the future. --More 2128 Local Time 1828 GMT
