Prime Minister Gordon Brown dismissed speculation Monday that he would call an early general election in Britain. «There will be a time and a place for a general election, but it is not now,» he said during an interview with British Broadcasting Corp. radio. Since replacing Tony Blair as Britain's prime minister on June 27, Brown and his Labour Party have done well in the polls, leading to speculation that he would call an election before the one required by June 2010.
