He said the infrastructure at Wagah (Pakistan) and Attari (India), the two town bordering Pakistan-India border near Lahore, needs to be improved. A Task Force constituted by the Indian Prime Minister is looking into the matter of non-tariff barriers, which would be taken care of in the light of their recommendations, Kumar said. Acknowledging that visa restrictions are impeding trade between India and Pakistan, the Indian official said that he would take up the issue raised by the Lahore Chamber with his government, and hopefully necessary instructions would soon be passed on to the concerned authorities to ease visa problems. On the occasion, LCCI president Shahid Hassan Sheikh appreciated the governments of both Pakistan and India for allowing cross-border movement of trucks, and suggested that the time allowed in this regard is very short. He said space should be allowed for the drivers of each side to take some rest between transportation of consignments.
