At least nine people were killed in two traffic accidents in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Tuesday, Xinhua quoted local police as saying. A 46-seat bus carrying 34 people collided with a truck from behind at a section of a highway of Emin County at about 5 a.m., leaving three people dead on the spot and four others seriously injured. Another six people were killed and four injured after a container truck hit a tractor at a section of the national highway No. 314 in Ayikule town of Aksu in western Xinjiang at around 5:40 a.m. Five of the six dead were women. All the injured are being treated at local hospitals. Local police have launched investigations into the accidents.
