The Ministry of Agriculture issued a ministerial decree imposing a temporary ban on importing deer and sheep (goat and mutton) from Surrey, UK because of risks of foot and mouth disease there. The decree also ordered the authorities to continue banning the importation of cows as the animals are still subject to mad cow disease there. The Ministry said that this ban is based on what was published in the World Organization for Animal Health Bulletin (No. 20) issue (No. 32) dated 09/08/2007, stating that foot and mouth disease spread in Normandy, Surrey, UK affecting 64 cows.
