Most of this year's under-graduates have been enrolled or registered in Saudi universities and colleges of high specializations according to the needs of the labor market in the country, a report issued by the Ministry of Higher Education today said. The report said this expansion in number of male and female students enrolled comes under the direct supervision of the Minister of Education and in implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Inspector General, to provide more chances of higher education for under-graduates to qualify them with necessary skills to contribute to the current renaissance of our country. The weekly report issued on the state of enrollment and registration showed that the total seats available for joining university education for the coming academic year increased to 566255. So far, 25753 additional applications have been accepted last week to bring to 148585 the number of male and female students admitted to government-run universities, said the report and added that according to the ministry's estimates more than 10000 additional vacancies to join private universities and colleges as well as military colleges and institutes are also available.
