A mild earthquake measuring at 5.5 at the Richter Scale jolted Papua at 6.30 am local time, sending the people in some villages into panic, according to ANTARA. At attendant at the Papua`s Meteorological and Geophysics Body (BMG) Mardianto said the epicenter of the quake was laid at the 5.3 of the North Latitude and 141 of the East Longitude, some 309 southeast of here or some 30 kilometers beneath the sea. "The quake was also felt in Jayapura, Tanah Merah in Merauke District, the Bovel Digoel District and Wamena in Merauke District," he added.
