A former Lithuanian tiathlete completed the final leg of his swim across the Baltic Sea on Tuesday three weeks after he had to give it up, Baltic News Service (BNS) reported according to DPA. Vidmantas Urbonas, 49, swam a distance of 145 kilometres from the port of Pavilosta in Latvia to the Swedish island of Gotland. He started his feat on Sunday. Urbonas, the 1998 world ultra-triathlon champion, began his first attempt to cross the sea from Kalmar in south-east Sweden on July 22. With 90 kilometres remaining, he had to give up the swim during its final leg from Gotland to Pavilosta due to bad weather. The total distance from Kalmar to Pavilosta is 209 kilometres.
