A workshop to draw up strategies to conserve and reintroduce the Arabian Oryx into its natural habitats started here today with delegates from eight countries taking part. First session of the three-day workshop saw the participants sharing their views and experience in the best ways to conserve Arabian Oryx and release them into the wild, the UAE news agency "WAM" reported. Drawing up a strategy to coordinate all efforts to preserve this animal was recommended during the committee's third meeting which was held in May at Wadi Rum in Jordan. The workshop, being attended by 25 participants from the committee's member countries and other relevant organizations, aims at developing methodologies and mechanisms to conserve either by captive breeding or by reintroduction programmes.
