Six male and Four female participants recited verses of the holy Quran on the third session of the week-long 49th International Quran recitation, currently held at Dewan Merdeka, Putra World Trade Centre, here this evening, Bernama reported. The six male contestants were Darwin Hasibuan Sohibudin (Indonesia); Omar Abdulla Omar Awadh (Bahrain); Abdullah Ahmed Safer Abel Mohammed Hassan (Kuwait); Zhou Zhicai (China); Muhammad Akmal Noor Muhammad (Pakistan) and Muhammad Khairul Khalid (Singapore). The female contestants were Li Xuefang (China), Fatimatou Sow (Senegal), Samia Noor Muhammad (Pakistan) and Hafiza Haditza Rahman (BosniaHerzegovina). The international contest, entitled "Excellent Individuals, Outstanding Community", was declared open by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin on August 16, and will end on August 22. As many as 67 contestants from 44 countries are participating in this year's competition.
