The announcements of the winners of this year's Nobel Prizes will start Oct. 8 with the award in medicine or physiology, the Nobel Foundation said Friday, according to AP. The physics prize will be presented Oct. 9, followed by the chemistry award on the following day. The Nobel Peace Prize will be announced Oct. 12, the foundation said. That award is always presented in Oslo, Norway, according to the will of prize founder Alfred Nobel. The other awards are announced in Stockholm, Sweden. The 2007 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, the only award that was not established in Nobel's will, will be announced on Oct. 15, the Nobel Foundation said. The announcement of the Nobel Prize in literature will be determined at a later date by the secretive Swedish Academy in Stockholm. All the awards are handed out on Dec. 10 to mark the anniversary of Nobel's death in 1896. The first prizes were awarded in 1901.
