The Islamic Development Bank signed here today a technical assistance agreement (grant) amounted to $ 290,000 with Uganda to finance a feasibility study on establishing a hydroelectric power project in some selected areas of rural Uganda. The agreement was signed by Ugandan Ambassador to the Kingdom Haj Aziz Cassouja and IDB President Dr. Ahmed Mohammad Ali. The total cost of the study is $ 351,000 whereas the Ugandan government contributes by $ 61,000. It is worth mentioning that the total funds approved by IDB to finance developmental projects in Uganda covering the fields of education, infrastructure, water supply, rural development, industry, agriculture, electric power and commerce amounted to $ 73.8 million to date.
