In line with directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to the Republic of Bangladesh to alleviate sufferings of people who are affected by flash floods in the Muslim country. The First Saudi Airplane under the Saudi Air aid bridge program, carrying food and in-kind assistance arrived here earlier today. As soon as the plane touched down at Zia International Airport, carrying tons of food supplies, rugs and blankets, it was received by Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdullah bin Mohammed An-namlah; Draz Melkah, the Under Secretary of Bangladesh Ministry of food and Disaster Management and a number of Saudi and Bangladesh officials. The Saudi ambassador highlighted the true feelings of happiness on the part of the Bangladeshi people and government towards the generous Saudi assistance, which is readily provided by the Kingdom to Bangladesh in all its circumstances, affirming that the Kingdom will not hesitate in providing urgent assistance at any time and in the darkest times too. The Ambassador pointed out that the rest of the Saudi aid flights will reach Bangladesh in the upcoming days, Meanwhile, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Food and Disaster Management in Bangladesh thanked the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to provide this aid in recognition of the conditions in the Republic of Bangladesh due to floods. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), he said that the relief materials will be sent immediately to the stricken provinces and after these are received local by governors, who will in turn, deliver it to the stricken areas.
