Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Aso held here today official talks with Jordanian Prime Minister Marouf Al-Bakhit and Foreign Minister Abdelelah Al-Khatib, focusing on bilateral ties and ways of boosting cooperation in various fields. The talks also touched upon the latest developments in the Mid-east region, particularly the efforts to activate the peace efforts on the Palestinian-Israeli track. The Japanese Foreign Minister briefed the Jordanian officials on the details of the Japanese initiative to activate the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, which were earlier presented under the title of "corridor of peace and prosperity for the Middle East". Taro Aso arrived in Amman this morning on a one-day visit to Jordan as part of the Middle East tour that will also take him to Palestine and Israel. He is scheduled to hold later today a press conference to highlight the goals of his current tour in the region.
