A total of 92 would-be immigrants were found off the coast of the Greek island of Samos on Sunday, DPA quoted the Greek coastguard as reporting. The majority of the immigrants - many of them children - originated from Afghanistan. In the early morning a patrol boat discovered 64 refugees on a boat that had taken off from Turkey. The coastguard detained an underaged Turkish boy as possible people smuggler. Another 16 refugees were found shortly before sunrise as they attempted to cross the 1,200-metre distance between Turkey and Samos in a dinghy. Twelve more aliens were found alone on a beach in Samos. The Greek authorities are expecting more refugees in the coming days, according to state radio. The Aegean is one of the routes used by international people smugglers to bring immigrants into Europe.
