Germany would make an additional 1.1 million euros (1.5 million dollars) in assistance available to victims of flooding in South Asia, Development Aid Minister Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul said Wednesday. "The situation in the flooded areas is dramatic and could deteriorate," DPA quoted Wieczorek-Zeul as saying. She noted that 35 million people in India, Bangladesh and Nepal continued to be affected by flooding and that the rains could continue for a further six weeks. The German government allocated 500 million euros in aid to flood victims in Bangladesh at the beginning of August.
