50 companies have presented their bids in a tender to be held August 31 to construct 76 km of the Turkish stretch of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, AzerTAc correspondent reports citing the Transport Ministry of Turkey. Although, the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway was projected as early as in early 90s of the last century, it was brought to existence after Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Mikhail Saakashvili of Georgia as well as Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan inked a Framework Deal in February this year in Tbilisi. Among the participants of the tender are such major Turkish companies as Tekfen Alarko, Alcatel, Nurol.
