Dutch-British food company Unilever said Thursday its net profit in the second quarter of 2007 amounted to 1.15 billion euros (1.57 billion dollars), an increase of 14 per cent compared with the same period last year, according to DPA. Presenting its quarterly and half year results, Unilever said turnover increased by 3 per cent to 10.5 billion euros. Analysts had expected a 10.36-billion-euro turnover. Unilever also said its sales growth increased by 5.8 per cent. The company expects overall growth for 2007 to range between 3 and 5 per cent. The food company aims to improve its gross profit margin as well.
