The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Conference, Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, has strongly condemned the tragic suicide attack in Islamabad yesterday which resulted in at least 22 casualties and injuries to several innocent people. Conveying his profound and sincere condolences to the Government and the people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, particularly the relatives of the deceased persons, the OIC Secretary General called for a thorough investigation into the attack with a view to bringing the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice. Professor Ihsanoglu finally appealed to all concerned to stop this senseless cycle of violence, which is clearly against the tenets of the peaceful religion of Islam, as it continues to claim precious lives and threaten societal stability. -- SPA
