Saudi Public Assistance for Pakistan Earthquake Victims (SPAPEV), a Saudi relief organization working in Pakistan since the October 8, 2005 earthquake, has released $ 2 million for the World Food Programme (WFP) to distribute flour bags among quake survivors, said a SPAPEV statement. The WFP has arranged for distribution of the flour bags. SPAPEV Media Director Ibrahim Homaily said the association was established specially for the welfare of quake survivors, adding that an amount of $ 700,000 was recently issued to the READ Foundation schools to provide at least 22,000 children of 122 schools with bags, stationery, uniforms and other essential material. About 60 trucks of study material had been dispatched to the foundation schools in quake-ravaged areas including Bagh and Muzaffarabad districts. Homaily said the SPAPEV had so far distributed over 1,000 trucks of relief goods worth millions of rupees among the affected people in Bagh, Muzaffarabad, Mansehra, Balakot and other areas.
