The ruling cycling body UCI has signed an anti- doping agreement ahead of the road racing world championships in Germany, local organizers said on Thursday, according to dpa. German organizers said that the agreement was an important instrument to ensure a clean championship September 25-30, in Stuttgart. Under the agreement, the UCI, German sports authorities, local organizers and Germany's anti-doping agency will conduct a multitude of tests ahead of the championships. Cycling has been rocked by various doping affairs over the past months. This week alone, Kazakh rider Alexandre Vinokourov was revealed to have tested positive for blood doping at the Tour de France, and the race leader Michael Rasmussen of Denmark was kicked out of the Tour over missed doping tests.
