A leak from a railway tanker car in the principal station on the German-Polish border blocked rail movements for more than two hours on Monday while firefighters hauled the flammable load clear, according to dpa. Fumes escaped from the train carrying a load of kerosene and turpentine as it was halted at Frankfurt an der Oder. They entered the station building and the plaza in front of it, federal police said. The area was evacuated and thousands of commuters had to use a bus shuttle service organized by the railway company Deutsche Bahn to the next station. The Berlin-Warsaw express was halted by the emergency.
