The Saudi Electricity Company inked here today an accord worth SR 585,404,820 with Al-Tukhi Company to install Gas operating electricity Units at Faras electricity station in Al-Ahsa - the Eastern Province to meet the increasing demand for electricity. Speaking on the occasion, Eng. Mahmud Taibah, the CEO of SEC expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz and the Crown Prince for their constant financial support to allow SEC to complete electricity projects all over the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Under the contract, 4 Gas Operating units will be installed in order to generate more than 480 megawatts. These units will be operational before the summer season of 2009. It will raise the capacity of Faras Gas Operation station to 1,318 Megawatts, Taibah said. This new project will be under the supervision of the General Electricity Company, which will import power generation Turbines, he added. Faras Electricity Station has 13 Gas operating Units which produce 838 Megawatts.
