A Norwegian officer was lightly injured in the arm in an overnight firefight in northern Afghanistan, the Norwegian Defence Ministry said Monday. The Norwegians were on patrol near Maimana when they were attacked, dpa reported. The patrol returned fire and took cover on higher ground, and assessed they did not need to be evacuated by other forces from the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), the military said. The wounded officer was Monday flown for assessment to a field hospital in Mazar-e Sharif. The officer, whose identity was withheld, has been in touch with his family.
