A police officer and two civilians were killed by unidentified gunmen in a southern Russian region near Chechnya, officials said Saturday, according to AP. The attack occurred late Friday near the city of Nazran in the province of Ingushetia west of Chechnya, the local branch of Russia's Interior Ministry said in a statement. A police officer and a civilian were also wounded in the attack. Motives behind the shooting were not immediately clear. Chechnya and nearby provinces in Russia's volatile south have been destabilized by frequent shootings and bombings.
